The past year had most of us scrambling to catch our breath and keep on top of the headlines. Dramatic changes in government, the #MeToo movement, and advances in technology have kept us all engaged in the news and consequently adopting a constant “what’s next?” state of mind. For people who work in the media—like the lovely team at Longview—the climate yielded a responsibility to bring important issues to the surface.

We had the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that directly played into the current social dynamics on a grander scale. Our efforts around strategic planning, message and content development, public relations, social media management, and other marketing initiatives helped shape our clients’ story – and our own. Here’s a recap of some of the most influential work we contributed to in 2017:

  • Longtime client, Reynders, McVeigh Capital Managementemphasized a campaign discussing ESGas an incomplete measure of data for sustainable/impact investing. In a series of bylines, the team elaborated on how investors can get a more complete picture of a company’s ethical, sustainable and responsible practices and how doing so influences the way investors view SRI (socially responsible investing).
  • Longview announced its new partnershipwith Sunwealth—a company with a mission designed to bring commercial solar projects to underserved communities. The team is already influencing the greater Boston area by offering solar jobs and lower, cleaner energy options. To get a feel for their impact, watch this video about their project with Bethel AME church: https://reflectionfilms.wistia.com/medias/lopcoit76b
  • Longview led a media relations and content effort around diversity and gender inclusion by highlighting the dedication of the regional CPA firm, AAFCPAs. Highlights included:
  • Longview helped the most storied socially responsible investing conference in the industry, The SRI Conference, promote the increasing need for advisors to adopt socially responsible investing in their practices.
  • Our President, Evan Zall, led and participated on panels at The SRI Conference and Sustainatopia about how to effectively marry impact investing with a business’ message.

This year, we were energized by our opportunities, as working in strategic communications gives us the power to be change agents—especially by ensuring our clients’ most impactful messages reach the masses. We strongly believe knowledge is power, and we’re constantly working to advance meaningful conversations in the sustainability/social space and other arenas.

On behalf of all of us, we want to thank our clients, team, vendors, and partners for all the hard work leading to both the “home runs” and all the little things that make a big difference.

From our team to yours, we hope you have a happy and healthy New Year, and be sure to check our blog in 2018 for more insights, musings, and ramblings from the Longview Strategies team!
